"crack" dip

is it too early in the morning to think about clogging your arteries?  nahhh.

my all around hilare gal-friend HB has been gracing us with her "crack" dip for a few months now. we just keep thinking of new reasons to get together so HB will whip up this sinful concoction. {courtesy of none other than the diabetic queen herself, paula deen}

finally a totes appropes event is on the horizon - super bowl sunday!

we happen to be hosting a soiree this year in honor of my hub's very wise and sound decision not to go to the actual super bowl.  it's also his birthday.  {happy birthday, CBC, i really like you a lot.}

this will not be a lil hoot production, more like an opp for CBC to show off his love children from his affair with the big green egg, and for "crack" dip.  obvs.

if you are hosting a party on sunday or a guest - do everyone a favor and provide this dip.
{btw, i am an artichoke dip connoisseur- have literally tried and devoured hundreds of them, this one dominates.}

warning: these ingredients are not for the faint of heart.  if you plan on simply enjoying the dip and not making it, you might want to stop reading. {i mean what do you expect people?  crack is whack.}

Three Cheese Hot Artichoke DipRecipes courtesy Paula Deen

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounces) block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 (14 ounces) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
  • 2 green onions, sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • Dash hot sauce
  • Dash Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese with a hand held electric mixer until smooth. Then beat in the mayonnaise until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and stir together until combined. Transfer the dip to a pie plate or shallow gratin dish. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the dip is bubbling. Serve hot with crackers, tortilla chips, crostini or veggies.

yes, i realize taking a hit of the crack dip this weekend will set me back from my herve goal - but it will be worth it.
